Continuing education management qualifications

The Executive MBA in Media Management is designed for creative and management professionals working in the media industry or in a media-related profession who would like to expand and increase their area of expertise.

Candidates who need to meet complex management demands in their professional practice, and therefore aim to acquire further qualification in matters of media management. This expectation is met by the HMS’ Executive MBA through program contents that are systematically based on current issues and problems of the media business.
The course is made up of four terms with a duration of three months each. In total, the program, including the master thesis, takes 18 months to graduate.

The first two terms focus on central activities and processes in media companies. Modules of the first two terms can also be booked separately. Their successful completion is attested with a "Management Certificate". Terms three and four draw from basic knowledge communicated in the first two terms, meaning they can only be booked after having successfully completed the first stage of the course.
The third term presents the opportunity to acquire “Specialisation Certificates” in cooperation with renowned Media Education Institutions, such as the Adolf Grimme Institute, Henri Nannen School of Journalism, RTL School of Journalism and the German Association of Magazine Editors (VDZ).

The Executive MBA in Media Management program is jointly conducted by Hamburg Media School and the University of Hamburg. Students are awarded an Executive Master of Business Administration in Media Management upon completion of the program.
The degree is awarded in conjunction with the University of Hamburg and qualifies students to pursue a doctoral degree.
